Biography
Nevermore est un groupe de heavy metal américain fondé en 1992 sur les cendres de Sanctuary, à Seattle.
Le groupe fut d'abord composé du chanteur Warrel Dane, du bassiste Jim Sheppard, du prodige Jeff Loomis à la Guitars et du batteur Van Williams. Le groupe est rapidement rejoint par le guitariste Pat O'Brien (qui officie dorènavant dans le célèbre groupe de death-metal Cannibal Corpse). Repérés par le label Century Media, le groupe enregistre un premier album éponyme en 1994 avec Neil Kernon aux commandes, qui avait déjà produit des albums de Queensrÿche, notamment. L'album sort en 1995 et le groupe a l'occasion de faire la première partie de quelques groupes plus importants. En 1996 le groupe sort l'album Politics Of Ecstasy, un album très apprécié par la critique, montrant une assez grande maturité pour un second album, révélant ainsi le potentiel du groupe. En 1999 parait Dreaming Neon Black, album sombre et conceptuel racontant un épisode personnel de la vie de Warrel Dane. Un être aimé qui meurt et une vie qui s'écroule finissant par le suicide du personnage principal. C'est sur cet album que Pat O'Brien est remplacé par Tim Calvert à la Guitars. En 2000, après de longues tournées auprès de groupes comme Iced Earth, Mercyful Fate ou encore Arch Enemy, le groupe entre en studio pour enregistré l'album qui reste son plus gros succès à ce jour, A Dead Heart In A Dead World, produit par Andy Sneap (Machine Head). Surnommés "The Chaos Bringers" en raison de leur impressionante puissance live, le groupe part de nouveau en tournée avec des groupes tel Arch Enemy, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, etc... En 2003 sort Enemies Of Reality, qui sera réédité peu après en raison de sa faible qualité de production. Finalement en 2005 le groupe acceuille un nouveau guitariste en son sein, Steve Smyth (également guitariste de Dragonlord) et sort son nouvel opus: This Godless Endeavor. Le guitariste Steve Smyth a annoncé en 2007 qu'il quittait le groupe pour diverses raisons. Son probable remplaçant serait Chris Broderick (Jag Panzer) qui remplaçait déja Smyth pendant sa convalescence suite à une greffe (réussie) d'un rein. Warrel Dane est actuellement en studio afin d'enregistrer son album solo qui devrait paraître prochainement.
