Mercyful Fate

Groupe de Heavy Metal danois fondé en 1981. Mercyful Fate est reconnu au sein du milieu metal pour avoir inspiré nombre de groupes de Thrash Metal (surtout Metallica, qui leur dédiera un très long medley de 11 minutes en 1998) et initié en partie les aspects visuels du Black Metal, le chanteur King Diamond arborant un splendide corpsepaint. Certains puristes incluent Mercyful Fate, avec Venom, Bathory et Celtic Frost, comme les fondateurs du genre Black Metal
