Jon Nödtveidt was mostly known as the leader in Dissection since he formed the band in 1989. He commited suicide in 2006.

Biography

Jon was born June 28, 1975. His first steps in the metal scene were when he created Siren's Yell, a thrash metal band, in 1988. He was only 13 years old then. The band released one demo before they split. On these grounds Jon created Dissection.

Eight years after Dissection was created, Jon was arrested and convicted for participating in the murder of Josef Ben Maddour, an homosexual originating from Algeria. Sentenced to eight years in jail, he ceased all musical activity for several years, until he was granted the right to play guitar while serving in jail.

Jon Nödtveidt was a satanist beliefs enthusiast, what caused him some troubles. Dissection was for instance cancelled from an Israeli festival because Dave Mustaine didn't want to play along with a man with such beliefs.

Jon was found dead by gunshot in August 2006, lying inside a ring of lit candles near a Satanic Grimoire.
